Prayer requests…
Please pray…
that the places we’ve ministered at & people we’ve had contact with so far has been “affected”
for spirit of boldness & courage as we minister or when we get called upon to do something unexpectedly (we’ve had to do most of our stuff impromptu)
for those of of that seem to be a little under the weather (Caryn, Hitomi)
for language barriers to be bridged as much as possible (Matthew is doing a wonderful job as our translator but we know things often get lost in translation)
for our final church service in Mae Sot this morning & for safety during our 8 hour journey back to Bangkok down a winding mountain
for rest as we prepare to go camping for the next three days with 80 college bound freshman or teenagers
for receptive & open hearts in those we minister to esp. at camp
Our Home Chapel…
Bright and early after breakfast, we embarked on a 15 min brisk walk to Our Home Chapel, home base to the Foursquare Church in Thailand. We were warmly greeted & introduced to the various staff that run the show, as well as got a taste of what was served in their brand new cafe. From English teachers to ministry & admin personnel, everyone had a story on how his/her life came to be in Christ. The rest of the was the morning had us in a detailed briefing for the Freshy English Camp we’ll be attending & helping at next week. Bangkok is home to the largest university in the world, with a student population of over 400,000 students: a great well & harvest ground for outreach. We are to be the bridges in these relationships that we are yet to form at camp, to help connect the campers to the Thai staff & to share Jesus in a relevant way that will be meaningful to them.
We finally decided to hit the Mall by 3pm. There were those who braved the walk under the hot sun & there were those to chose to go by car…however, I think we got there around the same time thanks to city traffic!
After shopping (we caught a cab back by the way), we toured the rest of the Home Chapel Study Center where English classes for various age groups were going on. We visited with the children & practiced speaking English with them. A group sang the Thai national anthem while we sang ours. We played games, asked & answered questions…& of course, laughed a lot!
We enjoyed a lovely home cooked meal prepared by the staff. There was Tom Yum soup, deep fried fish with green mango relish, stirfried veggies & Thai style omelette.
Please be in Prayer for Us…
As of today, the cases of swine flu in Thailand has tripled in 3 days. It’s anticipated that it will peak in July before we see any decline. Please pray for us that we will have supernatural covering and protection as we head to Thailand during such a time as this & minster in areas where there are large amounts of people.
